As required by the HITECH Act of 2009, we are announcing our connection to the SHARE database. SHARE is the health information exchange (HIE) formed in order to provide better coordinated care for your medical providers. It connects all participating providers and hospitals in an effort to ensure your treating physician has the most up to date information about your health.
The database pulls information from providers' electronic medical records that is unique to you, and allows it to be available to other providers that participate in SHARE. For example, an ER physician in Little Rock could have all your medicines and conditions available for review if you were in an accident. Additionally, your local primary care doctor can know immediately when you are discharged from the hospital or ER in another city, and review the records prior to your follow up visit. This saves time and improves the quality of care for patients.

SHARE HIE is an opportunity to improve the delivery of healthcare. While many may have concerns about protection of your personal information, you can be assured that the highest levels of security are being used to protect the system. This information is subject to the same privacy rules as any other medical/personal information in our office.

The information below about SHARE is taken from sharearkansas.com:
SHARE helps provide you with better, easier and safer health care. Using a secure, state-wide computer network, SHARE combines your medical information from different caregivers to create a single electronic health record. This helps your doctors more easily coordinate your care and reduces mistakes, especially in emergencies.
Your health care providers may already share your health records through fax, email and postal mail when needed for your care. SHARE makes it easier, faster and more secure for providers to exchange information about you. It creates a whole picture of your health.
SHARE is improving the way health care is managed by easing the common frustrations with medical records many of us have felt as patients:
Providers who care for you or your family can get this information through SHARE.
